A couple months ago I got on a plane and headed to somewhere I had never been in Mexico – Riviera Nayarit. I honestly did not know what to expect. I grew up going to Puerto Vallarta and while I liked it, I didn’t love it. After 4 nights in this place, I was hooked. Riviera Nayarit, Punta de Mita in particular, is a hidden gem that I feel like has not been fully discovered. And one of the biggest things that stood out to me? The caliber of hotels and how uniquely different and special they all are. I can’t even choose a favorite!

Read along to find out why Riviera Nayarit is one of my new favorite destinations…

Four Seasons Punta Mita

There is something about Four Seasons Punta Mita that makes you never want to leave.

The newly redone adults-only pool is an Instagram-worthy dream, and the lazy river appeals to children and adults alike. The cabanas on the beach are no extra charge and on a first-come basis, which I love. The food is incredible, featuring a Richard Sandoval restaurant, contemporary Asian restaurant, and Mexican cuisine. The seafood is caught fresh daily with the catches of the day put on display on the beach for the guests to see. Also there are some fun new culinary experiences in the works!

Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit

If you’re looking to show up to a resort and never have to see a bill or think about anything, all-inclusive is the way to go and Grand Velas is the place to be. While all-inclusives are sometimes associated with subpar food, weak drinks, and people getting a little too drunk at the swim-up bar, Grand Velas is far from this. Grand Velas cuisine beyond exceptional (even with a vegan menu at each restaurant!) and the atmosphere luxurious yet not pretentious.

St. Regis Punta Mita

I only got to spend a couple rainy hours at St. Regis and did not get to see a room, but in my short time there I immediately fell in love with the feel of it. Crisp white lace hammocks & day beds, spread out but still easy to get around, great cuisine (breakfast buffet was amongst some of the best), and the spa was jaw-dropping-amazing. There is definitely a feeling of luxury but at ease with impeccable service.

The W Punta de Mita

The colorful W Punta de Mita aims to leave you feeling energized throughout your stay – even after leaving the spa! The vibrant decor and local Mexican artwork throughout embrace both the destination and the W brand.
