Even though I studied abroad in Florence for nearly 5 months, I had really only spent a couple days in Rome. We did all of the sites and tours, but I never felt like I truly experienced the essence of Roma. When I found out that I would be headed to Italy this year, I knew I had to spend some time in Rome and discover the magic of this city. I found this at Hotel Eden Rome.
When coming to Rome, I immediately knew I wanted to stay at Hotel Eden Rome. First off, I had heard nothing but gushing praise about the renovations. Secondly, it is a Dorchester Collection property which are consistently some of the best properties I have seen and experienced, with guaranteed five star quality and service. Lastly, the location! I knew I would want to take the city by foot during my short stay, and Hotel Eden’s location allowed me to never have to take a cab to see what I wanted to see.

Since its opening in 1889, Hotel Eden has become an iconic destination in Rome and is rich with history. It closed in 2015 to undergo renovations and recently re-opened in April 2017. The new design features 98 rooms and suites giving it a somewhat boutique feel.
Located just a quick walk from the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and more, you can easily access most of Rome’s main attractions from Hotel Eden. Additionally, being perched on a hill allows for sweeping views of the city from the restaurant and rooms alike.
At night, the “secret bar” opens in the lobby and live music by a local pianist begins at 6pm. Order a classic Italian cocktail such as an Aperol Spritz or Negroni or one of Hotel Eden’s selection of specialty coffee cocktails. I loved hearing the pianist at night – perfect way to start or end an evening!
There is also a small spa on-site with four treatment rooms, a hair salon, and nail salon space.

My spacious junior suite definitely had the feeling of “new” yet still maintained its Italian elegance. The all-white marble bathroom complete with Bottega Veneta products was one of my favorite features!
I also saw a Prestige Suite (shown above) that had some of the most breathtaking views of the city. Hotel Eden also boasts some of the most impressive suites in the city like the Aurora Terrace Suite which has a private terrace complete with a fountain, lounge furniture, and outdoor dining area for ten people.

Breakfast is served in the stunning La Terrazza restaurant with views of Rome in both the indoor and outdoor spaces. I was thoroughly impressed with the expansive breakfast that included many healthy options (which is a huge plus to save room for all of that pasta and pizza!) I went with an egg white omelet with lots of vegetables and a massive side of avocado. Feeling the need for some extra nutrients with a juice? Hotel Eden fresh-squeezed a spinach, lemon, ginger juice for me – perfect for the morning after my long flight from the United States!
For dinner head to Il Giardino, which is adjacent to La Terrazza and serves Italian fare with a modern twist, headed up by Executive Chef Fabio Ciervo.
