It is no secret that Austin International Airport is my favorite airport, and this is not just because I live in Austin and think it’s the best city ever. From the short lines to the local-only food choices to the minimal amount of gates – it is truly a traveler’s paradise (did I mention the short immigration and customs lines too?) Although there are many fabulous dining options at the ABIA, today I am going to showcase Annie’s, which in my opinion is the healthiest. If you’ve had your fair share of queso and brisket, grab some of this lighter fare while heading out of the Live Music (and BBQ) Capital.
Kombucha ($6.99)
Start off your morning right with a hefty dose of probiotics. Yes, the price is twice its average grocery store price tag, however since liquids this size cannot pass through security, it is your best/only option. Plus these are yummy and make you feel oh-so healthy.
Fage Greek Yogurt ($3.99)
Keep those good-for-you probiotics going with a healthy breakfast option. This light but filling cup o’ yogurt is packed with protein and is a smart choice before a flight.
Hail Merry Macaroons ($4.99)
Satisfy your sweet tooth with this gluten-free, vegan dessert miracle. I discovered these at Whole Foods awhile back and was amazed to see them here. Only SIX ingredients including organic maple syrup, organic shredded coconut, dark cocoa, organic extra virgin coconut oil, organic Madagascar bourbon vanilla, and sea salt, and they are kept refrigerated to preserve those raw ingredients. Yum, dessert is always a good idea.
Find them all here at Annie’s! This a very short list of the many options but Annie’s also offers sandwiches, salads, bars, healthier versions of chips, fruit and more.
Gate 18
Open 6am – 7pm
Safe travels y’all!
Best,
Chelsea Rose Martin
